Hastings

The warm Mediterranean climate, one of the longest and most attractive boulevards in the country, historic Spanish Mission architecture, an array of art and sculpture and close proximity to some fine vineyards make Hastings one of the nicest places to enjoy New Zealand hospitality.

Take the Spanish Mission Walk along Russell and Heretaunga Street to the Hawke's Bay Opera House to discover classic architecture, pick up a bargain at the Hastings Market on Saturday mornings, visit over forty wineries, do an arts trail or see the world’s largest gannet colony. Hastings also has internationally renowned golf courses and the water park 'Splash Planet' which has a plethora of water based activities.

The city and surrounds do not disappoint when it comes to urban pleasures or naturalistic escapes.

A little further a field is the art deco capital of the world Napier, which makes for an excellent day trip. Havelock North is filled with colonial buildings dating from the late 1800s and is noted for its lovely gardens and parks.
