Rainbow's End Theme Park

New Zealand hotels

Occupying a 22 acre (9 hectare) space, New Zealand's premier theme park is devoted to crazy rides and attractions. There are best suited to children but adults and teenagers can have fun to.

For the under 10's there is the dream castle, with it's own miniature roller coaster, merry-go-round and Ferris Wheel. The bigger kids get to yell their lungs out on the more menacingly named Power Surge and Fear Fall which drops 18 storeys in no time at all! There are more tame attractions including a 12 hole mini golf course, a dome -like180 degree cinema where the movie happens all around you and a virtual 3D theatre ride known as the 'Motion Master'. Rainbows End is also home to New Zealand's only corkscrew roller coaster which takes you up 90 feet (27m) and then shoots down and around in a loop before twists and turns leave you breathless at the finish. The ultimate gut buster though has to be 'The Invader'. Seated on a huge disc you are spun around and transported along a 80 metre track which reaches heights of 15 metres. That's a lot of G Forces! The classics are also here like the dodgem cars, the bumper boats and a log flume ride.

Of course, all that yelling and hanging on for dear life builds up an appetite. Lucky there is a wide variety of food options available in the park. Everything from Candy Floss to hot dogs and hamburgers, hot chips and cold drink. Adults might be able to grab a coffee to settle their nerves!

This award winning theme park is a sure fire family hit. Allow 3 to 4 hours including waiting times.
